3 Wordpress Plugins Every Blogger Needs
Serious writers and bloggers using the Wordpress platform know exactly how important it is to have a well-maintained blog. In order to achieve this, we add tons of plugins to our Wordpress blogs. Plugins are designed to enhance the way a blog performs and I, personally, think there are a few no writer should go without.
The first is the Akismet plugin. Akismet was designed to act as a spam filter, but it’s much more sophisticated than allowing Wordpress to do this alone. Akismet will catch comment spam and if you mark a comment as spam once the program will automatically filter spam from the same source in the future. The coolest thing about Akismet is that it automatically installs with Wordpress, so all you have to do is activate it.
Another favorite is the Wordpress Automatic Upgrade plugin. If you’re anything like me the thought of trying to “upgrade” your Wordpress platform is a bit scary. This update is awesome because it allows you to upgrade Wordpress from within your dashboard at the click of a button. It walks you through making a backup and then does all the upgrades automatically. This is a MUST HAVE for anyone who runs multiple blogs.
Last, but certainly not least, is the Feedburner Feedsmith Plugin. This is another MUST HAVE for those of you who don’t like messing with html code. Instead of updating your site with your latest Feedburner information you can simply insert your link into the plugin and your blog feed information will automatically update. No complications here!
