Online Marketing & Promotion Course

March 24th, 2009 Posted in Writing Online Courses

Hope everyone had a spectacular weekend. Over the past week or so I’ve received several email about upcoming courses but there was one in particular that really grabbed my attention.

On March 31st at 1:30pm EST, the folks at WritersMarket will be sponsoring a course called The Essential Online Tools for Marketing and Promotion. It’s part of a series of classes designed to teach “what every writer needs to know to get published and stay published.” Sounds good to me.

Seriously, though, the course is designed to teach you how to stay up to date with some of today’s hottest marketing trends. They include Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, LinkedIn, and more. I know, I know - who wants to maintain a bunch of useless accounts all over the internet? I felt the same way until I realized that I don’t have to get caught up in all of the “internet drama” as I use these sites. They really are awesome marketing tools and, as a freelance writer, you should really take advantage of all of the free marketing resources you can.

The class specifically includes information on:

  • Building a blog;
  • Using social networking sites;
  • Information on social networking has evolved; and
  • Examples of authors using these tools

The only drawback is that this course is not free to sign up for (and no, this is not a paid promotion). The cost is $99 for 1 1/2 hours, but I have a feeling the benefits will far outweigh the costs. Let me know if you opt to take this class and, if you do, whether or not you found it helpful!
