Freelance Writers on Twitter
It seems like Twitter is really becoming a huge networking tool. Posting lists of “favorite Twitter resources” seems to be a growing trend as well. Just thi s morning I saw a post by Sharon at Get Paid to Write Online outlining “39 Writers You Should Follow on Twitter.”
I took a look at her list and I’m pretty impressed. I already follow a few of these writers myself, and some of them were included on the list put out by the Freelance Switch a week or two ago. Even still, if you want to build a successful freelance writing career you MUST learn how to network effectively. That means spending less time joking with friends and family about the flavor of your coffee in the morning and more time tweeting with fellow writers.
Why? Because establishing great relationships with other writers puts you in the position to become successful. Not every writer can be all things to all people at all times. What does that mean to you? It means you’ll want to know if someone has a job to subcontract because he already has too much on his plate; you’ll want to know if he has contacts you might be able to take advantage of; you’ll want to know if other writers are sharing resources; and - most important - you’ll want to know if a fellow freelancer needs your help!
I highly recommend you take a look at Sharon’s list of “39 Writers You Should Follow on Twitter.” I also recommend you follow WritingSuccess on Twitter as well! Have a great weekend!
