5 Hot Places to find Writing Jobs

December 22nd, 2008 Posted in Freelance Writing Jobs

The economy is tight and the job market is even worse. Whether you’re a full-time writer or a part-time blogger just looking to make money online, it helps to know that there are hundreds ( if not thousands) of writing jobs that become available each day. The trick is knowing where to look to find them, so I’ve compiled a list of 5 hot places you can look for freelance writing and blogging jobs. Check them out:

5. ProBlogger

The ProBlogger website is run by no other than Darren Rowse, an esteemed and well known blogger. His website has a separate Job Board section where aspiring freelance bloggers can read about and apply for new jobs as they are listed. He only lists serious blogging jobs, so you are relatively safe from fly-by-night job posters here.

4. JournalismJobs.com

Journalism Jobs.com is another great place to find freelance writing listings. The jobs you’ll find here are geared more towards the serious full-time writer than someone looking for a short gig, but you’ll find both listed here.

3. Demand Studios

Demand Studios is an online venue where freelance writers can write short informational articles for publication on the web. You have to apply for a Demand Studios account and submit a sample of your writing. Upon acceptance, you can earn up to $15 per completed project. They have pretty strict writing guidelines and you don’t get to publish with your own byline,  but the work is easy and it’s a great way for beginners to get their feet wet.

2. Craigslist

Yes, I said it - Craigslist is an incredible place to find jobs. You will, of course, have to sift through the crummy jobs to find a great one. Unfortunately, that same statement could apply to most job boards. Search Craigslist and you’ll find a few really great opportunities. Just proceed with caution when you make  business arrangements with a client you’ve never worked with before.

1. FreelanceWritingGigs.com

FreelanceWritingGigs.com is a site I’ve followed since the start of my own freelance writing career. The site owners make searching freelance job boards easy. They basically do the work for you, so instead of searching a handful of job boards you’ll find a selection across the web all in one place.

Finding good freelance writing jobs takes time and patience, but it doesn’t have to be a difficult task, either. Start by checking out a few of these sites and you’ll be well on your way to your next great gig!
